WORCESTERSHIRE County Council chiefs have said they will be open to further measures to help tackle speeding on a ‘dangerous’ Stourport road.
Concerns about speeding vehicles on Wilden Top Road have prompted residents to seek action from councillor Ian Cresswell.
The road, which connects rural and residential areas on the outskirts of Stourport, is used by a mixture of local traffic and drivers who are seeking a quicker alternative to Wilden Lane.
People living along the stretch of road have claimed motorists frequently exceed what are considered safe speeds.
Wilden Top Road currently has a speed limit of 60mph.
County councillorv Mr Cresswell said some residents living near the road fear it is only a matter of time before an accident occurrs.
A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said measures had already been introduced to help prevent motorists from speeding.
The spokesperson added: “The dips and crests along Wilden Top Road are gradual and traffic volumes on the road are generally low.
“We have previously investigated concerns regarding vehicle speeds in this area and, in response, have installed pedestrian warning signs and ‘slow’ road markings, to help improve driver awareness and road safety.
“We will continue to work with the local member, monitor the situation, and review any further concerns raised by residents and road users.”
