Dogs for Autism visit Hartlebury specialist school as £1,565 fundraising thank you

Kidderminster Editorial 30th Oct, 2025

REPRESENTATIVES from the Dogs for Autism charity paid a visit to a specialist school in Hartlebury to thank pupils for their fundraising, writes Taneesha Arora.

The organisation, which provides autism assistance dogs to neurodivergent people of any age in the UK, headed to Aurora Wilden View School.

There, the charity thanked pupils for their efforts which saw them raise £1,565 over the past year.

The school, which opened last year, is for children with social, educational and mental health difficulties and associated autistic spectrum conditions.

Staff and students at Wilden View School organise several festivals throughout the year which enable the whole community to enjoy games and activities while raising cash for a worthwhile cause.

Among the events were a Scarecrow Festival in autumn, an Easter Festival which involved an egg hunt and raffle and also a Summer Festival.

Every class is given £15 to create an ‘enterprise’, such as baking cakes, to raise funds.

Wilden View’s business manager Kathryn De Freitas said: “We’re really proud of the incredible amount the students raised.

“It’s been lots of fun coming together as a community and doing something positive for a charity with whom we share a common goal in supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities.”

Dogs For Autism’s fundraising manager and volunteer coordinator, Laura McCreadie, visited the school last Friday.

She said: “The wonderful amount raised will make a big difference to the charity.”
