Tristan Harris 12th Mar, 2026

RESIDENTS are being invited to celebrate local wildlife and find out how to support nature at a community event in Stourport.

The Wildlife and Countryside Fair takes place at The Severn’s Club, Lickhill Road, from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, March 14).

The event is free and will feature a programme of talks throughout the day to give attendees the chance to hear from local experts about wildlife, conservation, and sustainable land management.

Some wild talks on offer

It starts with ‘Why Heathlands are Amazing’ by Nick Packham from the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust – that is at 10.30am.

At 11am, there is Regenerative Farming at Haye Farm with Liz Courtney from Haye Farm Market Garden and, at 11.30am, Mike Williams from the WM Butterfly and Moth Society will give a talk on ‘Butterflies of the Wyre’.

A presentation on Worcestershire’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy will be given at 12pm by Natalie Jaworska from the county council and Clive Wood from Greener Stourport will talk about ‘No Mow May: Helping Wildlife in Your Garden’ at 12.30pm.

‘Darker Skies: The Impact of Light on Our Pollinators’ will be the subject of a talk by Peter Winter from Ryedale Environmental Group at 1pm. And the last talk of the day – ‘Deer of Wyre Forest’ will be given by Nigel Woodall at 1.30pm.

John Rhymer, Chair of Wyre Forest Green Alliance, said: “We have organised this event in partnership with Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and Greener Stourport.

“It will bring together local wildlife groups, conservation organisations and community initiatives for a day of inspiration, learning and family-friendly activities.”

Visitors can explore a range of stalls and displays from wildlife organisations, browse the book sales, local produce, art and craft stalls and enjoy children’s activities.

The event will also offer insights into how local nature reserves are managed and how farming practices can be both planet-friendly and nature-friendly.

With growing interest in biodiversity and climate action, organisers hope the event will connect communities with practical ways to support wildlife close to home.

The powerful exhibition ‘Letters From Global South’ which highlights the global and climate crisis will also be available to view. Click here for more.

Nick Packham, engagement team leader at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, said “We’re delighted to be involved with Wyre Forest Green Alliance and Greener Stourport to help inspire people across the area to get closer to nature.

“This is a great opportunity to meet people involved in helping nature, whether that be planting flowers for pollinating insects or volunteering in communities or on nature reserves.

“We hope the day will provide plenty of inspiration for people to learn more about the natural world, to get out and explore nature for themselves as well as to help nature where they live.”
