EXPLORER Scouts from across Wyre Forest District took part in the annual competition camp.
Camp Cockerel, organised by Scouts Wyre Forest, brought together 26 teams of Explorer Scouts from across the Hereford and Worcester Scout County.
The weekend, at Rhydd Covert Scout Campsite in Kidderminster, featured a weekend of challenges.
Young people put their teamwork, navigation and problem-solving abilities to the test through a series of daytime activities, before taking on the event’s signature challenge – a 10-mile nighttime incident hike around the Wyre Forest.
A team from the 16th Wyre Forest (St Michaels) Explorer Scout Unit, based in Stourport, triumphed once again, securing first place overall and retaining the coveted Camp Cockerel Trophy.
The team also claimed the Day Base Challenge Trophy, highlighting their consistent performance throughout the weekend.
It was a strong showing for the whole unit with their other two teams achieving excellent results, placing them fourth and 11th overall.
Mark Atkinson, Explorer Scout Leader for the unit, said: “I am incredibly proud of all our explorers.
“To win the event two years in a row – and to have all three teams finish so highly – is an amazing achievement.
“Their teamwork, determination, and navigation skills were clear throughout the weekend.
“Scouting is all about giving young people skills for life and they demonstrated those skills brilliantly once again.”
