In case you missed it, the full story is below.
Our April Fools ‘story’
KIDDERMINSTER is set to become the first town in the world to run a flying carpet shuttle bus.
‘Carpet Cabs’ has been revealed for the first time today (April 1) and will be launching on Easter Sunday, after which six flying vehicles will be available to hire at a moments notice.
People will be able to book their flight on the ‘Carpet Cabs’ app.
The carpet cabs will travel anywhere within the Wyre Forest, with people able to get from Kidderminster to Bewdley in just 90 seconds, as opposed to the 15 minutes it takes by car.
Miniature drones have been fitted to each corner of the carpet to offer those wanting to escape the rush hour traffic the chance to fly above it and get to work in record time.
Once you have entered your destination into the app, the Carpet Cab will pick you up at the front door and the drones will follow the quickest flight route.
Passengers can ‘fly solo’ or book larger flying carpets for themselves or book larger rugs for their partners or family and friends (up to a maximum of four).
The revolutionary flight drone technology was designed by “A Whole New World Ltd”, and has been attached to a state of the art carpet designed and made in Kidderminster.
Kidderminster was chosen as the pilot area due to its reputation and rich history in the carpet trade, one of the foundations of the British economy for decades.
At its peak, Kidderminster’s carpet industry featured over 20 factories and employed around 15,000 people.
Poly Ester, CEO of Carpet Cabs, said: “We are thrilled to be launching Carpet Cabs in Kidderminster.
“Everyone knows Kidderminster has a fine reputation for creating high quality carpets so it was only natural that when we took this step into the future, this was the place we chose to launch our Carpet Cabs.
“We guarantee that people will fly in comfort and will thoroughly enjoy a magic carpet ride.”
Worcestershire’s On Demand bus service has proved popular but Kidderminster’s Carpet Cabs bosses claim this will take public transport to a ‘higher level’.
Another update on ‘Carpet Cabs’ and the new timetable will be revealed at midday today.
