A DONKEY in Kidderminster’s ‘hidden garden’ has been named Eeyore after he was born on National Winnie The Pooh Day.
Bodenham Arboretum posted a picture of their new has named donkey foal on Facebook, during which they asked people to suggest any names.
Ironically, the baby’s mum, called Winnie, gave birth on January 18, which just so happens to be the Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne’s birthday.
Suggestions for the foal’s name were collected, and the final decision- Eeyore- was announced to the public on Monday, January 26.
The post read: “Our beautiful little donkey foal, born on A.A. Milne’s birthday/national ‘Winnie the Pooh’ Day, will now be known as ‘Eeyore’ – a foregone conclusion perhaps.
“Eeyore is now enjoying the company of the other donkeys and turning into quite a little character and keeping everyone entertained.”
A.A Milne was born on January 18, 1882, and first introduced Winnie the Pooh to the world in 1926- 100 years ago this year.
Bodenham covers 170 acres of mature woodland, specimen trees and shrubs, and two chains of pools and lakes, integrated within a working farm.
It is often referred to as Worcestershire’s hidden garden.
