WYRE FOREST Conservation Volunteer Group is encouraging the local community to explore the great outdoors to help maintain Worcestershire’s stunning natural landscape.
The Forestry England group meets every second Tuesday from 10am to 2pm, doing various jobs all across the district.
The changing seasons require different jobs.
Winter sees tasks including brash burning, which is a vital part of the rejuvenating process and improves habitats for flowers and invertebrates.
In the summer, tasks include grass raking to improve meadow habitats and hand-pulling Himalayan Balsam to manage the invasive species.
The last session saw the group clear the pond area on the family activity trail to make the beautiful body of water visible from the path.
The group is now keeping its fingers crossed for a little rain to keep it topped up.
