Historic former Kidderminster carpet factory to open as well-being hub

Ryan Smith 25th Nov, 2025

AN EMPTY building in one of Kidderminster’s old carpet factories will soon become the new home of a much-loved local charity.

Simply Limitless has been delivering holistic health and wellbeing programmes for over 15 years, supporting more than 1,000 people each year.

Now, as part of its bid to expand its services, the charity is refurbishing the building and transforming it into a community space offering vital health and well-being services.

The new centre, which is just five minutes from Kidderminster town centre, is set to open at the end of February and provide accessible facilities.

Paul Raper, CEO of Simply Limitless, said: “We are really grateful for the support we’ve received from the public health team. None of this would be possible without them.

“We are so excited to have the opportunity to complete the build with the people we support in mind.

“We don’t have to squeeze ourselves into an existing build; we can create the perfect welcoming community space that works for our residents, making us truly accessible to everyone.”

The refurbishment will allow Simply Limitless to relaunch and expand its services to reach more people.

Some of the new additions include improvements to its mental health service, with Simply Limitless now able to hold one-on-one support and targeted groups for men, women, teens parents, and carers.

Staff have also received specialist training in trauma and teen mental health.

They will also launch the new Families at their Best project, including a family café offering hot meals, connection, and support.

There will also be a new soft play area for under-fives, an expanded Mega Kids programme for ages 5 to 11, and accessible fitness classes.

And there will be a new weight loss programme alongside ongoing Feel Good Nutrition sessions.

The refurbished centre will also host external groups. Facilities such as the main hall and meeting rooms will be available for hire, generating revenue and strengthening community partnerships.

Cash for the new charity building has come from Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health grant.

Coun Satinder Bell, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, added: “It was really great to see first-hand the work Simply Limitless is doing. Their holistic, family-oriented approach will take pressure off other services and provide much-needed support in the community. We are delighted to be able to support this vital, much-loved local charity.”
