A STOURPORT pub will be helping Children in Need with a special fundraiser next month.
Staff at The Hollybush on Mitton Street will hold the event on Friday, November 14, after a spur-of-the-moment idea from the landlady’s daughter, Lisa Downes.
Lisa has arranged for a disco to take place, while Craig Johnson, a local musician, will become a human jukebox from 4pm, where he will perform any song requested in return for a donation to Children in Need.
There will also be activities running all day, including a bottle tombola, glitter tattoos, and other children’s activities and games.
The pub is currently selling Halloween crafts with all proceeds going to the charity.
And there will be a huge raffle in which many local businesses and people have donated. The winning tickets for that will be drawn on Saturday, November 15.
The prizes include a family ticket to Wacky Play Land in Kidderminster, four free carvery meals at The Bridge at Stanton Bridge and a £20 voucher at Foley’s Fish Bar.
Lisa told the Standard: “When I was a child, everyone watched Children and Need on TV.
“It was the night that many local people looked forward to yearly when I lived in Cleobury Mortimer.
“After enjoying my memories, I thought, hey, we have a venue, why don’t we do something?
“We are hoping for a fun day with lots of people from the community having a great time.
“We, as a business, have always wanted to do more charity work and give a bit back to the wonderful community we are in.”
