THE LATEST Bewdley Artisan Market held last Friday has been hailed a massive success.

The event at Bewdley Rowing Club attracted between 300 and 350 visitors and boasted 25 stalls – 17 indoors and eight outside.

Among the wares on offer were cheese, coffee, preserves, Turkish food, bread and cakes from two bakeries – The Doorstep Bakery and TaylorWood, meat and venison from

Rushton’s Fame, Hinton’s Gin, rapeseed oil, rustic puglia, fluffle – a fusion of fudge and truffle, and wines from Astley’s Vineyard.

Other offerings include Black Fern chainsaw wood crafts, Secret Garden plants and displays, cynograph prints, silversmith Laura Goldorne, Bewdley Candles, handmade soaps and Ellie’s Little Gems crocheting.

The bar at the rowing club was open and there was live music from duo Toucan, along with a visit from the Mayor of Bewdley, Coun Nicole Harper.

Organiser Ellie Hooper, who runs Ellies Little Gems, said: “The event went very well and it was a lovely day all round.

“The traders were delighted with the response, including seven new ones.

“It was nice to have a visit from the Mayor who has always been a great supporter of the artisan market.

“We had a mix of people – some who came across the river from the town and others who started here and then went to the independent shops in Bewdley.”

There are four Bewdley Artisan Markets each year – one for each season – and this was the spring one.
