PEOPLE across Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport and the surrounding areas are being urged to give their views on the Shared Homeless and Rough Sleeping Strategy.
Wyre Forest District Council Is asking residents to give their opinions following a review of current needs and provision across Worcestershire.
A new Shared Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026 to 2031 is being developed by Wyre Forest District Council, Wychavon District Council, Malvern Hills District Council, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council.
The strategy provides updated guidance on how local partners should work together to prevent homelessness, improve housing outcomes and ensure, when homelessness does occur, it is rare, brief and not repeated.
Homelessness affects people and families in different ways and the causes are often complex, ranging from the lack of affordable housing to issues such as domestic abuse, mental health, family breakdown, financial pressures and challenges within the private rented sector.
To shape a strategy that responds effectively to these issues, it is essential we hear from people who have experienced homelessness, service users, partners and community organisations as well as local residents.
The consultation began last Friday and will run for six weeks, closing at midnight on Friday, May 22.
All responses are anonymous and all the views canvassed will directly inform the final version of the strategy.
Coun Chris Rogers, Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet member for housing, health and wellbeing, said: “This survey asks for your views on the key priorities, actions, and approaches set out in the draft strategy.
“Your feedback will help us understand whether we are focusing on the right areas, identify any gaps and ensure the final strategy reflects the needs and experiences of those who are threatened with homelessness or experiencing actual homelessness including rough sleeping.
“It’s important that we hear from people across the community so we can build a stronger, more supportive system for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.”
