A KIDDERMINSTER care home building is on the market after it closed following a damning Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.
Mariantonia House, which closed last year, has been marketed on Rightmove for £1.5million.
It is being promoted as a healthcare facility with 21 bedrooms, communal lounges, a kitchen, offices and a courtyard garden.
The venue was a residential home for people with learning disabilities or mental health conditions.
The care home on Comberton Road was rated as inadequate by the CQC which placed the home into special measures to ‘protect people’ following an inspection in July and September 2024.
Mariantonia House ‘categorically refuted’ the allegations made in the CQC’s report, describing it as containing ‘several inaccuracies and misrepresentations’ of the issues identified during the inspections.
An inspection was carried out following concerns regarding safeguarding incidents and a closed culture at the service.
Following this inspection, the overall rating for the home, as well as the areas for it being safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led, were moved down from good to inadequate.
Immediately following the inspection, the CQC restricted new admissions to the home, due to the ‘serious safety concerns’ found.
Following the release of the report, Emanuela Magro, the director of Mariantonia House, said: “For nearly three decades, we have provided a safe and caring home to residents whose families have put their trust in us.
“We categorically refute the allegations made in the report and wish to point out that our residents or their families have raised no concerns of substandard care in our 28-year history.”
The Rightmove description said the building was a ready-made platform for supported living, rehabilitation or specialist residential provision.
