Kidderminster Macular Group celebrates its 10th anniversary

THE KIDDERMINSTER Macular Group said there was ‘lots to celebrate and smile about’ as it marked its 10th anniversary.

The group meets from 10.30am to midday on the second Wednesday of every month above the Kidderminster Museum of Carpet.

The get-togethers are for those living with macular degeneration who can also bring along their partners.

The group enables members to chat to those in similar situations and they are provided with information to help them with their condition.

To celebrate the marvellous milestone a special celebratory cake was made which Jane Johns cut.

Despite her own sight challenges, Jane has led the group admirably for the past decade.

She dedicates her time to accessing information to share with the rest of the group with passion and empathy.

Volunteer and group member Joyce Seaton said: “Along with other brilliant volunteers, the group has become an essential lifeline for many people.

“It provides a welcoming safe place where experiences can be shared and friendships made.”

Macular disease is the biggest cause of blindness in the UK.
