Learn how to make 'easy' Christmas cake at Wolverley Community Cafe

Tristan Harris 10th Nov, 2025

RESIDENTS can find out how to quickly and easily make a Christmas cake at home at a special event in Kidderminster.

The event is taking place at 11am on Friday, November 14, at The Community Cafe at Wolverley Memorial Hall.

Cafe manager, Kate Mellar, will demonstrate how she makes what she calls a ‘Cheat’s Christmas Cake’.

Kate said: “It’s so quick and easy. I use mixed spices, mincemeat and oranges – all the taste without the fuss.”

The demonstration is one of the ‘Eat, Drink and Learn ‘ sessions, held regularly at the cafe on Friday mornings.

Recent very popular topics have included T-shirt printing, stone painting and circus skills.

There have also been talks on local history, community policing and Drakelow Tunnels.

And on Friday, November 28, continuing with the festive theme, local florists, Winnie and Olive, will be demonstrating how to make a Christmas wreath.

Kate added: “We are currently putting a programme together for 2026 and would love to hear from anyone who has a skill or a topic of interest they would like to share.”

The Wolverley Community Cafe at the Memorial Hall in Shatterford Lane is open from 10.30am to 3.30pm Tuesday to Friday.
