POLICE have moved to clarify the situation surrounding a ‘lockdown’ incident at Stourport High School this afternoon.
Posts on social media stated the ‘school had gone into lockdown because of an intruder entering the building’.
Other posts described seeing ‘police everywhere’, while another added ‘pupils were locked in classrooms, hiding under desks’.
But, speaking to the Standard, a West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We received a call around 2:30pm this afternoon (Monday, November 3) from Stourport High School regarding an anonymous call it had received that caused them concern.
“The phone call has been identified as malicious communication with no threat or risk to pupils and staff at the school.
“Officers will be at the school this afternoon to offer reassurance to the pupils and staff.”
