'Loss-making' car park closes near Kidderminster shopping centre

KIDDERMINSTER’S ‘loss-making’ Swan Centre car park has closed after a deal to save the site was not reached.

The car park at the Swan Shopping Centre shut to the public on April 30 after it was deemed commercially unviable.

PwC were appointed as joint administrators of National Car Parks Limited, which ran the site, back in March.

Since then, the joint administrators have been engaging with key stakeholders, including landlords, but it has not been possible to reach agreements to enable the continued operation.

The Swan Centre car park was one of five across the country on the latest list of closures.

A spokesperson for PwC said: “Since our appointment, the company has continued to trade as normal while undertaking an assessment of the options for the business.

“Following the closure of a number of commercially unviable sites on March 27, 2026 and April 16, 2026, it has not been possible to reach agreements to enable the continued operation of a further five loss-making sites, and as a result, Kidderminster Swan Centre car park will close.”

The car park on Blackwell Street was multi-storey and is attached to the Swan Centre building.

It was open between 7:00am and 7:00pm every Monday to Saturday, and 8:30am until 4:30pm on Sunday’s.

It generally charged £1 per hour up to four hours, with a 24-hour rate of £5.
