A MAN is in hospital with potentially serious injuries after two cars caught fire following a crash in Kidderminster.
The crash happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning (October 8) on Sugar Loaf Lane, on the junction of Stourbridge Road and Beachtree Lane.
Ambulance, police and fire were called to the scene, with both cars set on fire following the smash.
A road closure was put in place and highways were also asked to attend as the fire caused damage to the carriageway and an oil spillage.
Two fire crews were first on the scene, arriving at 7.11am, followed just by an ambulance and paramedic officer six minutes later.
Two men, the drivers of the cars, were assessed by ambulance staff and one was taken to Alexandra Hospital having sustained potentially serious injuries.
The second driver was also injured, although his wounds were not believed to be serious.
He received self care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene.
Fire crews remained at the scene at 2pm and were attempting to make the vehicles safe.
A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Wyre Forest and Bromsgrove Fire Stations – were called at 07:11 on 8 October to an RTC involving small vehicles in Sugar Loaf Lane, Ismere, Kidderminster.
