Mike Oborski Awards - Nominations sought for people who go 'above and beyond' in Wyre Forest

Kidderminster Editorial 21st Feb, 2026

NOMINATIONS have now opened for the 2026 No Barriers – The Mike Oborski Awards, writes Sam Wadsworth.

The accolades celebrate individuals, businesses and organisations in Wyre Forest and go the extra mile to make the district more accessible and inclusive.

Coun Fran Oborski, Chair of the Awards Panel, said: “Every year we are inspired by the compassion and creativity shown by the people across Wyre Forest who work hard to remove barriers for others.

“Their efforts – whether large or small – help make our district a fairer and more welcoming place for everyone.

“I would really encourage residents to put forward those individuals, organisations or businesses who deserve recognition – these awards shine a light on the people who quietly make a real difference in our community.”

The No Barriers Awards were first held in 2008 in memory of councillor Mike Oborski, former Polish Honorary Consul for the West Midlands.

Nominations are now open and close on March 12. They can be submitted online at: wyreforestdc.gov.uk/nobarriers or nomination forms can be collected from The Hub, Green Street, Kidderminster, or from the reception desk at Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 16 at Wyre Forest House.
