A NEW MEMORIAL tree is set to be unveiled at Bewdley’s Riverside North Park.
Bewdley Town Council announced news of the project which was made possible through a partnership with Wyre Forest District Council and funding from the town council’s earmarked reserves.
The 220cm wall-mounted steel tree will provide residents and visitors with a dignified alternative to traditional memorial benches, offering more than 200 leaves where personal dedications can be engraved.
The design, crafted by Gedenk-Bomen (Memorial Trees), incorporates the refurbishment and reutilisation of the metal doors at the former electricity substation, creating a unique community feature.
Official unveiling
The official unveiling ceremony will be hosted by the Mayor of Bewdley, Coun Nicole Harper, on October 23. Residents, community groups, and civic leaders will be invited to join in marking this important occasion.
Coun Harper said: “The Memorial Tree provides a lasting way for families to celebrate the lives of loved ones in a setting that is accessible to all.
“It is both a tribute to our community spirit and a sensitive solution to the growing demand for commemorative spaces.”
Tracy Bodley, town clerk of Bewdley Town Council, added: “This project has been made possible by the collaborative support of Wyre Forest District Council and the enthusiasm of local residents.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Riverside North Park for the unveiling and to seeing the tree become a meaningful place of remembrance for years to come.”
