THE OUTGOING chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, Paul Harrison, has raised almost £3,000 for a local advice charity during his year of office.
A total of £2,932 was raised for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest through a series of fundraising events organised by the 2025/26 chairman.
An afternoon tea, a musical evening, a quiz night and charity dinner all helped raise funds.
They brought together councillors, residents, community groups and local supporters to back the organisation.
Citizens Advice Wyre Forest is an independent local charity and part of the national Citizens Advice network, providing free, confidential and impartial advice to anyone who needs it.
Coun Harrison said: “It has been a real honour to serve as chairman of the council over the past year and to support such an important local charity.
“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who attended events, donated or helped in any way.
“The generosity shown by our community has been fantastic and I’m proud that, together, we’ve been able to raise nearly £3,000 for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest.”
The money will support Citizens Advice Wyre Forest’s work helping local people with issues such as debt, housing, benefits and employment.
Paul Hodgson, chair of the Board of Trustees for Citizens Advice Wyre Forest, added: “We’re extremely grateful to Coun Harrison and everyone who supported his fundraising throughout the year. “This generous total will make a real difference and help us continue supporting local people when they need us most.”

Coun George Connolly, the new chairman of Wyre Forest District Council for 2026/27, will be raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
