A MAJOR Kidderminster store, which has been in the town for almost 30 years, has announced that it will be closing for good just before Easter.
Peacocks, on Worcester Street, has put up signs on its front of shop windows that it will be closing its doors on Saturday, April 4.
The clothing shop has been a staple of Worcester Street for 28 years now.
A closing down sale has been announced between now and the store’s final day of trading.
Kidderminster BID, which looks to help boost trade in the town, has issued a statement on the closure, which said it was sad news, especially given the fact that it has been a big part of Worcester Street for a long time.
The statement added: “It’s always sad to see a long-standing town centre business go, especially one with such a lovely team who really care about their customers and the town.
“They’ve always been engaging and have loved getting involved in what we do, which we’ve really appreciated.
“If you’re in town over the next couple of weeks, it would be great to pop in, grab a bargain and show the team a bit of love and support before they close.”
Kidderminster shoppers have taken to social media to react to the news.
One said: “It is so sad.
“I have always shopped here, lovely ladies in there.
“One of them told me that she has been there 28 years, as long as the shop has been open.
“I wish them lots of luck for the future.”
Another added: “It is sad to see Peacock go, we always got our stuff from there, I will miss all the staff and how friendly they all are.”
