A SPECIAL service was held by Wyre Forest District Council to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
The event took place yesterday outside the Wyre Forest House.
Council Chairman, Coun Paul Harrison, was joined by members of the public, representatives from the armed forces, and other dignitaries, for the special flag flying ceremony.

The commemoration remembered the day on August 15, 1945, when Japan officially surrendered to the Allied forces, marking the end of the Second World War.

Whilst Victory in Europe (VE Day) happened earlier in that year, there were still soldiers fighting on the frontline in the Far East for months afterwards.

Other events have been taking place across Kidderminster and Bewdley to mark the poignant occasion.
The events have been organised by Kidderminster Town Council, Royal British Legion and Mercian Volunteers Regimental Association, with our support provided through grant funding.
