Pirate-themed family adventure day at Stourport Basins

Tristan Harris 23rd Mar, 2026

A PIRATE-themed adventure day is set to take place at Stourport Basins, Tontine Gardens, from 10am to 3.30pm on Saturday, April 4.

Families, adventurers, and budding buccaneers are invited to drop anchor for a swashbuckling Pirate Day packed with fun, entertainment, and treasure-filled excitement.

The historic basins will be transformed into a lively pirate port, welcoming visitors of all ages to enjoy a day of themed activities, live entertainment and family-friendly adventures along the waterfront.

Young pirates can take part in interactive treasure hunts, games and hands-on activities, while roaming pirates and performers bring the spirit of the high seas to life throughout the day.

Fancy dress to add to atmosphere

Pirate dress is optional but encouraged to fully embrace the atmosphere.

Stourport Forward will also be officially launching their National Lottery Heritage Funded self-guided trail and showcasing a crochet display that has been lovingly created by a local community crochet group led by Ellie Hooper.

Pirate-themed activities and games will be led by heritage re-enactors, there will be a treasure hunt and Stourport Forward trail for young adventurers and their families and live entertainment from a local Shanty Crew and roaming characters.

Canal and River Trust Explorer activities will include ‘float the boat’ and there will be opportunities to explore the historic waterfront and heritage buildings. Among them will be the unveiling of Sabrina, the willow stable donkey.

The working canal boat Bramble will be on display in the lower basin.

Unique waterside heritage

With the scenic canals as a backdrop, the event will celebrate Stourport’s unique waterside heritage while offering an exciting day out for locals and visitors alike.

Stourport Forward said it hoped the event would bring the community together and attract visitors to enjoy the heritage aspect that Stourport-on-Severn has to offer.

The group wants to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund and their players for facilitating events such as this through the funded Navigate StourPort project.
