PLANS have been lodged for six homes and 20 apartments for those who are homeless in Kidderminster.
Citizen New Homes has lodged a planning application for the homes on Clensmore Street.
The application also includes access, parking and landscaping.
The proposed apartment block aims to provide supported ‘moving on’ accommodation for homeless people in trhe area.
If it is given the green light, the development will serve as a transitional living space that helps residents develop the skills and stability needed to secure permanent housing.
Planning documents said the facility would offer safe, furnished apartments with access to essential amenities, providing both privacy and a supportive community environment.
On-site support staff, including case managers and counsellors, would assist residents with individual support plans, focusing on mental health, employment opportunities, and life skills development.
The apartment block would have communal spaces and resources to encourage social interaction and help residents feel prepared to transition smoothly into long-term, independent housing.
There would be a minimum of three staff members, with two full-time support housing officers on site between 9am and 5pm every Monday to Friday, along with some weekends.
Out of hours, a concierge-security service will be provided to maintain the safety and security of the building.
Vulnerable residents will be able to stay between six months and two years.
Vehicle access to the site will be via Clensmore Street, with the homes having driveway parking, and the apartment building will have a parking area.
While the proposed development results in a loss of open space on-site, developers claim their plan still exceeds the required provision for natural and semi-natural open space for 26 homes by 0.017ha.
Citizen New Homes said they believe the proposed development delivers substantial benefits, including the re-use of a brownfield site, a diverse housing mix, and the creation of new jobs.
