Police warning amidst rogue traders operating in Kidderminster

Tristan Harris 26th Sep, 2025

RESIDENTS in Kidderminster are being urged to be on their guard after reports of rogue traders operating in the area.

Three men approached properties on the Spennells estate, offering to cut down trees and hedges, cleaning driveways and offering general building work.

The callers initially quote a low ‘too good to be true’ price and then, once accepted, the price escalates upwards.

When this amount was questioned by victims, the men then became increasingly aggressive and threatening.

Following the incidents, West Mercia Police said: “Genuine traders should always give you a quote for the job in writing, there should also be a 14 day cooling off period on any contract.

“Genuine traders will not change their prices without warning or discussing extra charges first, they should not become aggressive or threatening when collecting the agreed payment.”

Anyone who encounters rogue traders should call police on 101 to report it.
