A PROLIFIC thief and burglar who has also committed public order offences in Kidderminster has been banned from entering the town centre for the next 20 months.
Jason Baker, 53, of no fixed abode, has been convicted of thefts, burglaries, assaults and public order offences which have had a detrimental impact on business and members of the public alike in the town.
Baker is currently in prison until at least October and on Wednesday, following extensive work by West Mercia Police’s Kidderminster town centre team and prevention hub, his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) was amended at Worcester Crown Court.
Upon his release from prison, he will be banned from entering the town centre as defined by the ring road (except for Lower Mill street to access Church Street Medical Surgery and the pharmacy within the practice).
Along with existing conditions, originally granted at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on May 24 last year, the amendment prohibits him from entering the town centre until May 24, 2027.
Under the conditions, Baker must not enter Church Street, Kidderminster, the Lion Hotel, any Tesco store in the town and the town centre as defined by the ring road area on the map.
He must not refuse to leave any premises when asked to do so by any person having authority
PC Richard Clayton, from the Kidderminster town centre policing team, said: “We are pleased to get his CBO amendment for Baker who is a high harm individual whose actions have impacted businesses and members of the public in the town centre.
“We hope this court order will protect our communities from his offending upon his release.”
He urged anyone who saw Baker in the prohibited areas should call 101 to report it or submit the information via: westmercia.police.uk – the force’s website.
