THE first residents have begun moving into houses on a major new development in Bewdley.
The 8.25-acre site on Stourport Road was allocated for housing in the Wyre Forest District Local Plan, with the mix of properties designed to address local needs.
The site was bought by Elan Homes in 2023, and in December that year, Wyre Forest District Council granted the homebuilder reserved matters planning consent for 79 homes.
Across the development, named Sandbourne Gardens, Elan is building 14 different house types, with two to five-bedrooms.
There are also two self-build plots available, one with outline permission for a three-bedroom home, the other for a four-bedroom property.
Along with new homes, Elan will be creating a Locally Equipped Area for Play and will be including train-shaped items, giving a nod to the neighbouring Severn Valley Railway Line.
Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball said: “Those who reserved their new homes at Sandbourne Gardens at the earliest opportunity are now starting to move in.
“It’s an exciting time for them and us, and a real cause for celebration as the new community we’ve planned comes alive.
“One of the things people like about buying a new home is that everyone is in the same position when it comes to meeting their new neighbours.”
The overall development is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Under section 106, £380,000 is set to be invested into the local area, which will fund education, health, highways and traffic measures, sports facilities and nearly £41,000 for biodiversity offsetting to support the management of meadow grassland at Burlish Meadows parkland.
