Tristan Harris 25th Nov, 2025

IT IS BEGINNING to look like Christmas in Bewdley and across the Wyre Forest with the arrival of the festive tree and the announcement of the dates of this year’s Santa Sleigh.

The Rotary Club of Bewdley has been supplying the town’s tree for more than 27 years and the group also runs the Santa Sleigh which tours the district.

Santa Sleigh times

Father Christmas will be visiting areas between 5.30pm and 8.30pm each night, starting on the Lickhill estate in Stourport next Friday, December 5.

Next Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, the man in the big red suit will head to the Burlish estate in Stourport and he will be in Spennels on December 8, Marlpool on December 9 and Franche on December 10.

On December 12, the sleigh will tour Wribbenhall, Bewdley, on December 13 it will go to Hales Park and Wyre Hill and, on December 14, it will be on Bark Hill – all Bewdley.

Father Christmas will be at various supermarkets on the weekends – Tesco, Stourport, on December 6 and 7, Sainsbury’s, Bewdley, on December 13 and 14, and Morrisons, Kidderminster, on December 20 and 21.

The Christmas tree was presented to Mayor of Bewdley, Coun Nicole Harper, by the Rotary Club of Bewdley president, Philip Bowden.

The arrival of the tree comes just before the Bewdley Christmas lights switch-on which takes place tomorrow (Saturday, November 29).

There will be live entertainment all afternoon, with Coun Harper, and special guests coming on stage at the top of Load Street, by St Anne’s Church, to switch on the lights at 5.30pm.

Head down the passageway beside the KEMP Hospice Charity Shop to discover the Bewdley Gingerbread House, which, from 1pm will be doubling as Santa’s Grotto.

Attendees will be able to meet Father Christmas, sit in his sleigh and pet the furry reindeer.

And each child under 10 will receive a free small toy or sweet from the vintage vending machine.

Festive entertainment includes visits from elves and nutcrackers, a Vintage Carousel and a human snow globe for snowy selfies and family photos.

From 11am until 6pm, there will be stalls to browse along Severn Side South, Severn Side North and Load Street at the extensive Christmas market.
