THE DATE of this year’s Bewdley Christmas Market and lights switch-on has been revealed, writes Matteo Pirelli.
The extravaganza, announced by Bewdley Town Council, will be held on November 29.
The event is supported by the Wyre Forest District Council, run by Midland Markets and Marshals Ltd and will take place on Load Street and Severnside North.
It is hoped the market will have a plethora of stalls full of seasonal produce, artisan gifts, crafts, food, drink and other treats, along with a Santa’s Grotto where children can go and visit Father Christmas for free.
Traders are being sought for the market.
Street entertainment and live music will also be on offer to create and warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
The big countdown and Christmas lights switch-on will take place on at 5.30pm.
Looking ahead to next year, the Bewdley Riverside Market has also been given the go-ahead and will start trading from April 2026.
It will take place on the first and third Sunday of each month and offers stalls that sell local produce, crafts, antiques and gifts that reflect the charm and character of Bewdley.
Coun Nicole Harper, Mayor of Bewdley, said: “Markets have always been at the heart of Bewdley’s history and we are excited to see them return in such a vibrant and organised way.
“The Christmas Market will add to the magic of the switch-on, while the new Riverside Markets will provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase local talent and bring residents and visitors together throughout 2026.”
Tracy Bodley, town clerk at Bewdley Town Council, added: “This partnership marks a positive step in supporting the town’s economy, giving traders a platform and offering residents and visitors a high-quality market experience.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Christmas Market in November and to building momentum with the new Riverside Markets in 2026.”
