A PAIR of robbers who targeted a vulnerable man in Kidderminster by gaining his trust before assaulting him in his home have been jailed.
Christopher Mallabar, 36, of HMP Hewell, and Keylun Barker, 20, of Wild Cherry Grove, Lea Castle, Kidderminster, have been found guilty of robbery.
At Redditch Crown Court on Monday (April 20), Mallabar was sentenced to nine years 10 months, while Barker was given eight years and one month.
On Wednesday, June 12 2024 at around 10:30pm, Mallabar and Barker attended their vulnerable victim’s home address in the Horse Fair area of Kidderminster.
After gaining his trust, the victim opened his front door where Mallabar and Barker then forced their way into the address, threatened him with weapons, and assaulted him by kicking and stamping on him.
They searched his address and stole £200 cash.
Police officers reviewed CCTV footage which captured the offenders before and after the robbery with a suspected firearm on them and CID subsequently executed a warrant at Mallabar’s home address six days after the offence.
Mallabar was not in at the time but handed himself in to Kidderminster Police Station the next day and was arrested.
Barker remained at large until his arrest in September 2024.
Both were positively identified before being charged later that year.
Det Constable Stephen Lewis said: “We are pleased to get good custodial terms for Mallabar and Barker who callously preyed on a vulnerable man to rob him of £200.
“They threatened him with ‘weapons’ and physically assaulted him in his own home, a place where everyone should feel safe and secure, before taking his money.
“We pursued the pair and successfully brought them before the courts to get justice for their victim.”
