AN ANIMAL welfare charity has received a £400 donation from David Wilson Homes to support its vital work to care for creatures in need.
Severn Valley Rescue, based in Bridgnorth, is home to more than 200 animals, including donkeys, dogs, alpacas and pigs.
Entirely volunteer-run, the charity relies on donations to cover the cost of veterinary care, feed and shelter.
The funding from David Wilson Homes, which is currently building The Pearls in Stourport-on-Severn, has already been put to use, helping to support the care of an orphan baby donkey foal.
The youngster is currently receiving round-the-clock milk feeds before undergoing a lung scan at an equine hospital in Shrewsbury.

Severn Valley Rescue administrator, Julie Turner, said the donation was greatly appreciated.
“We have huge vet bills with so many animals to look after, alongside the extremely high price of hay and animal feed. As a charity we rely on volunteers, donations and our open events to fund the rescue centre, so contributions such as this are vital for us to be able to continue supporting animals in need.”
Severn Valley Rescue was founded by Amanda Ball in 2008 when she turned her family home into a safe haven for rescued donkeys.
Helen Lewis, David Wilson Homes Mercia’s managing director, said the developer was proud to support the rescue centre.
“Its work helping vulnerable animals, such as the foal currently under its care, makes a huge difference both for animal welfare and for the wider community.”
