STOURPORT Hockey Club have been encouraging local school children to take up the sport by hosting a tournament.
The competition, which took place at Stourport Sports Club, was the conclusion of an Outreach project supported by England Hockey Association, which also supplied sticks and balls.

The children, from Franche, Burlish, St Bartholmews, Bewdley, and Lickhill schools, were split into two groups, so there was no overall winner of the competition. They played a round robin tournament of five-a-side games.
The youngsters used the skills they had learnt during the coaching sessions they had received in their PE lessons from both Stourport and Wyre Forest Hockey Club coaches.

A Stourport Hockey Club spokesperson said: “Both the coaching sessions and the tournament have received positive feedback from teachers and children, with teachers finding the sessions fun and engaging.
“Children from St Bartholmews said the sessions had been good fun, with others adding that they had learned something new, and it was great to play with teammates.”
