Stourport paddling pool closes again as broken glass found

Ryan Smith 2nd Jun, 2026

RIVERSIDE paddling pool in Stourport has temporarily closed just over a week after re-opening following major renovation work.

Stourport Town Council announced on Tuesday that the paddling pool would be temporarily closed for essential cleaning and safety checks due to broken glass.

The pool reopened just in time for the May bank holiday weekend, but this is already the second time it has had to be closed due to broken glass being found.

A spokesperson for Stourport Town Council said: “For the safety of all users, the pool will need to be emptied, cleaned and refilled to ensure no sharp shards remain.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

This is the first time the pool has been open since essential work was carried out to repair the pipework and install a new surface.

The council said at the time that complex repairs had been identified, which required the attention of multiple specialist contractors.

This resulted in the paddling pool not being open to the public last summer.
