A STOURPORT school is celebrating after receiving a £1,000 donation from the Tesco Community Fund to upgrade its fitness centre, writes Shauna Begley.

The grant will allow St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School to purchase vital new equipment, providing students with more opportunities to stay active and healthy.

The new gear, which includes exercise bikes and rowing machines is set to be installed in the coming months.

Head of School, Mr Mike Goodall, said everyone was very grateful for the funding and the positive impact it would have.

“This grant will provide our students with more opportunities to stay active and healthy.

“It’s wonderful to see local businesses investing in the well-being of our community.”

Executive Head Shelley Reeves-Walters said: “The grant will be used to purchase a variety of new fitness equipment, including exercise bikes and rowing machines.”

The enhancement will boost the school’s physical education program and encourage a more active lifestyle for all students.

Mat Carpenter, CEO of the Severn Academies Educational Trust, thanked everyone who supported the fundraising effort.

He added: “Active play is such an important part of the primary school experience.”
