DEVELOPER Barratt Homes hosted a story-telling session for pupils at St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School in Stourport to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday, writes Ellie Taylor.
Ten students were joined by experienced storyteller Mark Fraser, who engaged them with a variety of tales.
The children experienced first-hand how oral storytelling has allowed tales to survive and evolve over thousands of years and across continents.

The event took place in one of the housebuilder’s show homes at The Pearls Development.
Mark said: “It was a great privilege to be able to share these wonderful stories with the pupils at St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School.
“It always amazes me that children will engage, create and be enraptured by story-telling and it’s wonderful to see large corporate businesses supporting and encouraging such creativity.”

Michael Goodall, St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School headteacher, was pleased with the experience which promoted reading for pleasure and education.
He said: “Along with visits from Wyre Forest Books, dressing up and Secret Reader competitions, it was great to experience a storyteller event in one of the new properties near the school.”
Adrian Evans, Barratt Homes West Midlands’ managing director, said: “Events such as these allow us to make a difference in the communities in which we build and encourage skills such as reading, writing, listening and creativity amongst local children.”
