Stourport Spartans' coach Melissa to take on half-marathon for children's cancer charity

Ryan Smith 31st May, 2026

A COACH from Stourport Spartans Boxing Club is preparing to lace up her running shoes for an inspiring new challenge in support of children battling cancer.

Melissa Jane Tout, who coaches at the popular Stourport-on-Severn boxing club, will take part in her very first half-marathon on September 13, to raise vital cash for Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.

As the Standard went to press, Melissa had raised £220 of her £250 target through her online fundraising page.

The team at Stourport Spartans Boxing Club has rallied behind Melissa’s efforts, encouraging the community to support both her challenge and the important work carried out by the charity.

Melissa said: “This is my first half-marathon and what a privilege it is to run for this charity.

“Every donation helps raise awareness, improve support for families, and fund work that could make a real difference to children facing cancer treatment.

“Any support, big or small, would mean a lot.”

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust was founded in 2016 in memory of four-year-old Grace Kelly.

The charity funds vital research into rare and aggressive childhood cancers, educates families and medical professionals about the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and provides practical, emotional and financial support to families.
