Ryan Smith 16th Apr, 2026

A KIDDERMINSTER pub has paid tribute to a man who died following a medical emergency at the scene.

The Park Gate pub was closed on Wednesday, April 8, following an incident involving the man, and emergency services were called.

The pub said the incident involved an independent contractor who had been carrying out work on site.

The man was found by the ambulance staff in critical condition and was given advanced life support and taken to the hospital.

On Wednesday, April 15, West Mercia Police confirmed that the man had sadly died.

The pub remained closed throughout April 8 before reopening the following day.

A spokesperson for The Park Gate said: “Our thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time, and with everyone in the local community affected by this tragic loss.

“We kindly ask for privacy and understanding for all those impacted.”

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death; however, it is not believed to be any third-party involvement or gross negligence.

The incident was reported to the Health and Safety Executive last week, and they have been updated on the matter since the man’s death.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.35pm on April 8 to a medical emergency on Stourbridge Road in Parkgate, Kidderminster.

“An ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic and a Community First Responder (CFR) attended the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found a man in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support to him, which continued en route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was conveyed for further treatment.”
