INCREASED traffic is expected as essential £1.5million works start to upgrade and maintain Trimpley Water Treatment Works in Bewdley.
Starting this month, Severn Trent will be cleaning the lagoon on-site at the treatment works as it looks to provide the best quality treatment for its water network.
Customers will have a chance to speak to the team directly at a drop-in session tomorrow (Wednesday, January 14).
The event is taking place between 3pm and 5pm at Trimpley Sailing Club, Trimpley Reservoir, Eymore Wood Lane, Bewdley.
During water treatment, materials such as silt are removed from abstracted water to make it safe for customers.
These materials accumulate and settle in the lagoon, allowing clean water to pass back to the River Severn. Removing the materials ensures the water treatment process can continue to operate effectively.
A specialist contractor will be carefully removing and redistributing to nearby fields and farmland approved by the Environment Agency, which will help to restore soil health and encourage crop growth.
This project is expected to take around five months to complete.
Laura Holloway from Severn Trent’s Community Communications team, said: “This £1.5 million investment at Trimpley Water Treatment Works is all about ensuring customers continue to receive the highest quality water. By carrying out these essential works, we’re strengthening the resilience of our network and making sure it’s secure for generations to come.
“If anyone has any questions about our work, we’d encourage them to come along to our drop-in session to find out more. We understand that our improvements may be inconvenience with an increase in traffic, and we apologise for any disruption. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we carry out these essential improvements.”
“Severn Trent added access for residents and landowners will always be maintained, and deliveries will be managed locally by our on-site team.”
