Wheely Different Theatre Company bring festive cheer to older people in Stourport

Tristan Harris 14th Dec, 2025

THERE was plenty of festive fun when the Wheely Different Theatre Company (WDTC) brought some Christmas cheer to the William Bullock community housing scheme in Stourport

Residents were treated to an afternoon of festive sparkle last Thursday, thanks to a lively and inclusive performance from WDTC.

The group arrived with a cheerful Christmas-themed set full of colour, music, and humour.

And it was topped off with a special visit from Father Christmas himself.

Elaine Kirby, founder of the Wheely Different Theatre Company, said: “Laughter filled the room as residents joined in with the show’s playful capers, singing along to festive favourites and taking part in gentle guided movements.

“True to WDTC’s mission of accessible performance, every activity was designed so everyone – whether seated, standing or using a wheelchair – could participate fully.

“The result was an uplifting session which exercised both body and soul, leaving residents smiling long after the final song.”

The afternoon also included a raffle, with proceeds contributing to WDTC’s chosen charity for 2026: Alzheimer’s UK.

Elaine added: “Residents and staff were delighted to support the cause, adding an extra layer of meaning to the festive celebration.”

The event marked another successful partnership between community housing and WDTC, showcasing the power of inclusive arts to bring people together, boost wellbeing, and spread a little Christmas magic.
