Wildlife-friendly housing development in Stourport earns praise from RSPB

THE PEARLS housing development in Stourport has been praised for its wildlife-friendly gardens.

Developers Barratt and David Wilson Homes have received accreditation from the RSPB for their efforts to create a welcoming space for wildlife.

New homeowners have also been encouraged to make their gardens a welcoming space for nature. To achieve the accreditation, the gardens must include a variety of habitat features that support and provide opportunities for wildlife.

At The Pearls, this includes the installation of a hedgehog house and highway, bird boxes, a pond, bug hotels, a beehive and compost bin, a water butt and a bat box.

Helen Lewis, David Wilson Homes Mercia managing director, said: “With support from our longstanding partner, the RSPB, we’re working to create nature-rich developments where people and wildlife can thrive.”

Adrian Evans, Barratt West Midlands’ managing director, added: “We look forward to seeing our new gardens flourish with wildlife, and visitors to our Stourport development can explore them and gather valuable insights for their own gardens.”
