Tristan Harris 6th Sep, 2025

THE NEXT women only bike ride to be run from the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre in Bewdley takes place at 10am on Thursday, September 11.

Limited free spaces are available at the next Breeze into Forest ride which boasts a lovely friendly encouraging group.

Participants should meet by the front of the visitor centre but be aware there is a parking charge if arriving by car.

The ride – for women aged 16 and over – will be nine miles (around two hours) and is suitable for mountain bikes, hybrids (off-road tyres) and ebikes.

The forest has main gravel tracks some narrower trails with some bumpy bits of tree roots and rocks.

The course is described as ‘easy going’ and the ride boasts wide gravel tracks on the family mountain bike route then an option of a narrower sand/dirt tracks along Dowles brook. Cyclists can stick to the disused railway track.

There is then an incline up Whimper Hill, before riding alongside the brook, back to the visitor centre via the fire road.

The ride – led by experienced Breeze Champions – provide a great way to get started in cycling or to improve skills, whether a beginner or a seasoned cyclist.

New riders are especially welcomed and participants usually stop for a refreshment break and chat after the ride.

People can bring money for cafe or their own refreshments.

There are toilet facilities at the visitor centre for before and after ride.

People are advised to wear appropriate clothing and bring a helmet, spare inner tube and water, along with any medication needed.
