A CHANGE has been made to Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet by leader, Coun Marcus Hart.

Coun Nathan Desmond has been appointed as Cabinet Member for Operational Services.

Coun Desmond has been a district councillor for more than 20 years and represents the Foley Park and Hoobrook ward.

Since 2023, he has been the chairman of the Audit Committee.

Coun Hart said he was delighted to appoint Coun Desmond, who had a wealth of experience, having held cabinet positions continuously between 2004 and 2019.

These included frontline operational services at the authority’s Green Street depot.

Coun Hart added: “I am looking forward to working with Nathan as part of my cabinet on continuing to deliver the priorities set out in the corporate plan and the challenging issues facing the district over the coming period.

“These include significant changes to funding for district councils, the introduction of food waste collections and local government reorganisation.”

Coun Ben Brookes had his cabinet position terminated on Monday by Coun Hart who acknowledged the work Coun Brookes had contributed to the cabinet since May 2023.

There are no changes to other cabinet portfolios.
