Wyre Forest Rangers thank public for helping poorly calf get the treatment they needed

Tristan Harris 27th Sep, 2025

THE WYRE Forest Rangers have put out a heart-felt thank you to a visitor who alerted them to a poorly calf at one of their nature reserves.

Thanks to the quick action, the rangers were able to respond swiftly and get the calf back to the farm for monitoring and care.

The rangers said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the support and vigilance of our visitors.

“Your care and attention on the ground make a real difference, especially when it comes to looking out for our grazing herds.

“Our cattle are a much-loved part of the reserves, and it’s heartening to know the community values them as much as we do.

“When something doesn’t seem quite right, letting us know helps us act quickly and ensure the wellbeing of the animals.”

Anyone who needs to report a concern can either message the Wyre Forest Rangers Facebook page, email [email protected] or call the team on 01562 732928, from Monday to Friday during office hours.

If it is outside office times, people should call 01562 732225.

It is helpful if people include the exact location to help the rangers find the area quickly and accurately.

One way of doing this is by using the mobile phone app what3words which helps pinpoint a three-metre by three-metre square of land, using a unique combination of three words.

It can be downloaded from the Android Play Store or Apple Store.

The rangers added: “Together, we can continue to care for both the wildlife and livestock that make our nature reserves so special.”
