FOOTBALL - Adam Murray left 'bewildered' by amount of added time played in Kidderminster Harriers draw

THE amount of added time played in Kidderminster Harriers draw against Macclesfield left Reds boss Adam Murray ‘bewildered’.

Harriers looked set to take all three points at Aggborough after Luke Spokes put the home side ahead early in the second half.

However, the referee decided to play an additional four minutes, on top of the eight initially added on, due to a stoppage in the extra period.

The visitors took full advantage to equalise in the 101st minute as Danny Elliott’s shot spun into the net.

And Harriers boss Murray questioned the standard of officiating in the division after his side conceded after the allotted eight minutes of added time.

Murray said: “I can’t say too much. It just bewilders me some of the things I see.

“I wouldn’t do the job that referees do because I understand how tough it is.

“The only thing you ask for is just consistency. We went into 10 minutes added time in the game before.

“After the game the officials said ‘when we’re in that amount of added time, we don’t add time on in that added time’.

“In this game, there were eight minutes added on and we end up going to the 102nd minute because they were adding minutes on.

“It’s just bewildering and that’s the frustrating thing.

“I was optimistic this season that the standard of officiating would have been better but unfortunately we’re not seeing that.”

The draw extends Kidderminster’s unbeaten run in the league to four matches.

And while Murray felt his side looked tired on the pitch, he believes Harriers created enough chances to take all three points.

Murray added: “In terms of the game we had enough good chances to put it to bed.

“We kept them in the game but we looked we had a long week of travelling and some of the boys looked dead on their feet at times.

“It was a really sluggish game but we created two chances we had to score from and we’re on our last legs and hanging on at the end.

“It’s another game unbeaten and another point on the board as frustrating as it is.”

Kidderminster travel to AFC Telford United in the FA Cup on Saturday, September 13 with kick-off 3pm at New Bucks Head.
